The Hernández family volunteers at the local community food pantry every Tuesday and Wednesday. The Emanuel Food Pantry grew out of weekly dinner gatherings for 60 families in the community. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the local church organization decided to move the pantry outdoors, today becoming Durham's largest food bank and supporting underserved families in Durham.
